Roping in latest RTD acquisitions of BeatBox by AB, Monaco by MC, and (much smaller) Dirty Shirley by Sazerac, Bump Williams Consulting's Dan Wandel provided an updated look at the top flavored alc bev brands and portfolios in NIQ scans in latest report. That's as total flavored alc bev sales grew 3.5%, rising 0.8 pts to 13.5 share of total alc bev sales tracked in NIQ data for latest 52 wks thru Mar 14 in NIQ data, defined by BWC as combo of FMBs, hard seltzer, hard cider, plus spirits & wine ready-to-drink and ready-to-serve products. Top 10 flavored alc bev suppliers &mdash; Mark Anthony, Boston, AB, Sazerac, Gallo, Diageo, MC, Geloso, Stateside and Phusion &mdash; now have 81% of the total flavor mkt. They now have a similar % of the fast-growing high-ABV flavor subsegment that grew 19% to $5.5 bil, accounting for 37% of total flavored alc bev sales. AB's the #3 Flavor Co at 10 Share with BeatBox; #1 in High-ABV AB's portfolio took the biggest leap by far in this 52-wk period when including BeatBox. It jumped 2.3 pts to 10 share of total flavored alc bev $$ with apples-to-apples sales up 35% vs yr ago, per NIQ off-prem data. Majority of AB's flavor growth is still from Cutwater, which doubled to $585.4 mil in the last 52 wks, surpassing Truly to become the 7th largest flavored alc bev brand family overall. But BeatBox isn't far behind, up 31% to $413.4 mil, the #9 flavor brand ahead of Cayman Jack. With BeatBox in the bag and continued growth from Cutwater, NUTRL and Rita FMBs, AB's now the 3d largest flavored alc bev supplier behind only Mark Anthony at 23.7 share, -1.2 pts, and Boston Beer at 16.6 share, -1.3 pts. It's nearly 3 pts ahead of next largest flavor cos, Sazerac and Gallo. It's also now ahead of Sazerac as the #1 high-ABV flavored alc bev portfolio.Sazerac 2d Largest Flavor Gainer, Ahead of Gallo for #4 Spot; Stateside Doubled to 2 Share of Flavor While Gallo flavor sales slowed to +2.8% for 52 wks, shedding share of flavored alc bevs, Sazerac's still flyin' up 28% and +1.4 share of flavor $$ to 7.1 total for 52 wks, slightly in front of Gallo for the #4 spot. Sazerac posted the 2d biggest flavor gain overall, virtually all driven by its BuzzBallz brand fam which rose 50% to $794 mil. BuzzBallz is larger than Mike's Hard/Harder family combined, making it the 4th largest flavor fam in NIQ channels, and hot on High Noon's tail for the #3 spot as that brand slipped 7% to $813.5 mil for period. The 3d biggest flavor gainer Stateside grew fastest of the bunch, doubling sales and share to 2 pts behind Surfside's 115% growth to $291 mil in these channels. Stateside is #9 flavor co for 52 wks, ahead of Phusion and just slightly behind Geloso for the #8 spot.MC Flavor Still Soft with Monaco for 52 Wks; Yet MC's Now #4 High ABV Flavor Co Addition of Monaco over these last 52 wks wouldn't have curbed steeper declines from the rest of MC's flavor portfolio. Altogether, MC flavored alc bevs were down 12% for period, shedding nearly 1 full share pt of flavor sales to 5 share total. It's still the 7th largest flavor supplier in all. And Monaco is up 14% to $182.5 mil, already ranking as 15th largest flavored alc bev brand family by $$ in these channels. Monaco catapults MC to the #4 high-ABV flavor company overall with 6 share of that subsegment.Flavored Alc Bevs Just 8% of AB and MC's Total Alc Bev Mix; SAM at 88.4% Flavor makes up just ~8% of both AB's (8.4%) and MC's (7.9%) respective total alc bev portfolios in NIQ data for 52 wks, the lowest among other top 10 flavor cos, Dan pointed out. Yet that's way up for both cos after previously taking a step back as their respective hard seltzer sales fizzled out, and other MC FMBs lost ground. Comparatively, flavor makes up virtually all of Mark Anthony, Geloso, Stateside and Phusion sales. Over 88% of Boston Beer's $$ sales are flavored alc bevs in these channels. Sazerac derives over 1/5 of its NIQ sales from its flavored portfolio while Gallo's at nearly 17% and Diageo's at 13.6%.
